I am always exceptionally proud of the talent and enthusiasm we have housed within our different business units and would like to share this special story about an outstanding event which was held in Asia recently.
In the true spirit of “Ubuntu”, two operating divisions of Compass Group joined forces to arrange a top class VIP function service for the clients of Compass PLC’s largest global Client, Chevron, at their remote Tengizchevroil (TCO) site based in Kazakhstan.
Compass SA, Gham Gourmet & the ESS Support Services based in Atyrau – an area which is close to the northern shores of the Caspian Sea - hosted a gala dinner to co-incide with the Asian tour of John S Watson, the new in-coming Vice Chairman of Chevron. The gala dinner for 200 VIP guests was held in the Dostyk Village in Atyrau and at the request for shared resources and skills from Ron Kulkarni, Country Managing Director. I enlisted the support of Shane Tintinger, Group Chef Patron at our fine dining division, Gham Gourmet, to assist the ESS FM management team, Hospitality management team and Culinary brigade in the execution of the function. In addition to the main gala dinner which was held at the gymnasium in the Dostyk Village, there were also a number of smaller breakfasts, luncheons & dinners held over the week at the Head of TCO’s private residence, ESS HQ & Riverside Hotel, which is also managed and staffed by ESS.
It is always great to hear positive feedback and following Shane’s visit of the ESS team based on site he had only praise to share. He said they are a dynamic, professional and exceptionally energetic team in their pursuit of world class service delivery standards. In spite of being in such a remote location and having additional challenges such as having to deal with heavy restrictions on certain products and the lack of readily available fresh produce, the team have become even more creative in the design and implementation of their menu’s - language barriers aside. With a strategically appointed and highly organised leadership and logistics team on the ground in the various locations in Kazakhstan, the team have managed to have a readily available basket of fine imported products to choose from, all capably dispatched from the central distribution warehouse to the network of remote catering units dotted around the country. This obviously makes meeting the stringent standards demanded by both Compass and the Client all that much more achievable.
The collective collaborations of the different operating divisions of Compass ensured that a highly successful week of functions was met and delivered with passion, enthusiasm and professionalism!
It is this kind of teamwork, passion for quality and “can do” culture which epitomises Compass and makes us the service provider of choice the world over.
A Bolshoi thank you and CONGRATULATIONS to the Compass group of men and women working in all of our remote sites who tirelessly prove day after day just how things should be done!
