ESS WINS FULL FACILITIES MANAGEMENT CONTRACT AT VODACOM
ESS Integrated Facilities Management, which is part of Compass Group SA, the leading outsourced caterer in South Africa, has recently been awarded the full turnkey solution contract for Vodacom, one of the largest contracts of its kind in the facilities management industry.

The facilities management team has been providing the day to day soft services management at all Vodacom buildings in Gauteng, such as catering, cleaning, horticulture, maintaining the water features, etc. since June 2006 and the contract has just recently been extended considerably to include hard services management, such as space planning, regulation, compliance, etc.

It is now also a national contract, and we will begin working on the northern operations immediately, explains Charles Gover, General Manager: Facilities Management. These operations include Commissioner Street, Sandton, Midrand, Degousa, Afikings, Hillcrest, Nelspruit and Polekwane.


ESS Integrated Facilities Management has employed over 140 people to work on the contract, and the majority of these people are stationed at the Midrand Campus, as this is the largest operation. The mobilisation, which kicked off in May, has been highly successful with ESS drawing on its extensive global knowledge and experience in mobilisation, as well as system control and procedures to ensure a smooth transition. Compass Group PLC has been offering facilities management for several years, and the South African based operation has been able to leverage off of this experience.
